img_20180618_wa0005.jpg Inverclyde Velo were represented at the round the Island 9 mile TT and the 1.5 mile Hillclimb, with 82 riders down to ride the time trial the Velo had 7 riders competing.

Conditions were dry and cool, but a strong south westerly made for a fast start but a laborious return leg at the far side of the Island.

The fastest time of the day was David Griffiths with a 19.20 , According to his on board video which is available on line shows David reaching speeds of 37mph on the outward stretch.

11 th place went to Kevan McCartney sporting the new velo colours and recorded a credible 21.20.
Paul Symington was the next velo rider in twenty first place with a 22.08, Paul opted to ride the TT on a road bike .
Paul McGonigol, came 23rd with a 22.11 also riding a road bike. Paul using his bike skills carried out a track stand on the start line for over 15 seconds due to being last rider and no one to assist.
24th place with 22.16 came George McCarter also on a road bike , a great tight contest with the roadies.

Derek Robinson also rode his road bike with clip on TT bars , Derek recorded 23.10 .
34th place was awarded to Tam May with a 23.20.
Beating A fantastic ride by Jim Beckett by 4seconds , Jim is enjoying great results at the moment with his new TT bike.

With ever present Alex Hunter conducting start time keeping duties later commented that he was proud of the turnout and endeavour of club riders , especially when the Velo were in the prizes , Derek fastest in his category and Kevan 4th in his.

40 riders took place in this popular event , the course record was standing at 5.30 prior to the event and was held by Scott Newman.

With this strong south westerly giving assistance throughout the climb the record was under threat.

Aidan Quinn sure enough smashed the record with a recorded time of 4.45 .

Velo results are as follows.
Paul McGonigol 5.10 4th overall, a fantastic ride by Paul, next Paul Symington with a 5.40. 9th overall,
In 16th place with a superb ride and a time of 6.20 was Derek Robinson.

Kevan McCartney 17th with a 6.21 and George McCarter 18th recording 6.23.

Derek, Paul Symington,Paul McGonigol were all in the prizes once again .

A great velo day out racing and to top it all Alex Hunter won a prize in the raffle.
