Just a bit of info to post here, I know a few of you have made an offer to help me out at this event so I'm posting details to make sure it suits and to firm up name of those who will be able to help.
Date of the event is Saturday 22nd of July starting @ 1pm until Sunday 23rd of July 1pm, HQ is just south of Chester.
I am heading down south to ride a 100m TT which covers part of the 24hr course @ the end of May, staying in a Travel Inn, if the location is o.k I was going to book a couple of rooms( depending on who is heading down ) for the July event.
I intend to travel down on the Friday and return on the Monday ( 21st -24th July). Once I know who is going and when I can book rooms accordingly and then have a look at who will cover what hours of the race.
So if any one can post/inform me of there intentions in the next few weeks that would be great.
I'm OK for that weekend so no probs for me to come down and help.
Would probably travel down on Fri eve after work and back up Sun eve unless I can get the Mon off work.
Count me in too. I will probably need to get home Sunday night.
Just an update on what is going on, I was down @ Chester for the 100 scouting out for the 24 the Travel Inn @ Chester looked good and only 10 miles from the start but unfortunately the Open Golf Champs are on the same weekend so everything around is fully booked.
I have made a booking for 2 rooms on the Friday night in Crewe and another 2 rooms @ Chester for the Sunday night. I will be travelling down on Friday 21st July during the day staying in Crewe, racing Sat into Sun and then staying in Chester on Sunday night travelling home Monday.
Spoke with Kenny/George and they may well be travelling down early on the Sat morning ( the first rider will be of at 1pm) and it is around a 4-4/12 hour drive to the race. Siobhan will be down with me so I will be o.k. for the start of the race if anyone is held up on the road down. If I need to book more rooms or cancel let me know ASAP so I can arrange.
I have not booked anything for the Sat night , Kenny & George had suggested a snooze in the car as the night section will be in a loop and there is a truck stop with an all night café for food/drink. There are rooms available here if required, let us know what you think for the Saturday night?
I hope to get a meeting arrange after one of the Tuesday/Thursday nights or after Georges race to go over things and let you know what is required during the event.
Just a few weeks to go now before the race ,easing back on the mileage now and starting to look at the bike set ups , all my gear, food as well as route sheets and schedules for the helpers. Plenty enough to keep me busy over the next few weeks
A quick summary of my training from the 1st of January to the end of June
Mileage – 9045
Runs over 100 Miles – 24
Longest run ( excluding Audax) 240M
2 Audax events 212Km and 614Km
3 TT’s 1 10M TT and 2 x 50M TT
I was hoping to have done more racing but it just did not work out, I will soon find out if the training has been effective or not.
Thanks to everyone who has/will help out and to all for the support and encouragement over the last months

How did it all go then? Did everything run smothly throughout the event with the course, bike changes ect? Could you have achieved an extra few miles with a beter back up crew? And will you be doing it again next year?
Beginning to feel a bit more human now, it was a long tough ride but managed to finish 7th with a provisional distance of 449.827 miles had to dig real deep to finish this one.
Conditions ranged from torrential rain on the Saturady afternoon( George has a photo of me riding through the rain) a fairly warm night to a baking hot finish of around 30 deg on the finishing circuit.
The helpers did a grand job of keeping me going especially after my knee caused me problems after 4 hours and by the end I could hardly pedal on it, so no biking in the near future until the swelling round my knee goes down.
Will write up a full report in a little while once all my bits stop hurting
Big thanks to my support crew
